Daily nasal irrigation reduces colds in a report to the
Assembly of the American Academy of Family Practice.

Natural Cold Prevention

Dr Richard Ravizza and Dr. John Fornadley presented their findings: daily saline irrigation reduced the number of colds and cold symptoms of students tested at Penn State,
compared to those who did not do irrigation. "This goes back to a 3,000 year old yoga technique of alternately sniffing and expelling salt water, a well known "cleansing ritual".  294 students were divided into 3 groups, one did the irrigation, one took a placebo pill, and one group did nothing. All groups kept a detailed symptom record developed by the researchers. The third group, that did daily irrigation, had the fewest colds and cold symptoms. The difference was significant, both in numbers and in careful statistical analysis. The effect of irrigation to the nose and sinus has been written about for years.

Natural healing is so important these days with so many bacteria becoming resistant. Dr. Robert Ivker, in his book, "Sinus Survival" stresses healing holistically, including saline irrigation using the SinuPulse Elite® Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System. Saline irrigation can remove certain amount of virus and viral products, as well as bacteria and bacterial products, thereby reducing the load of toxins the body has to deal with.

One advantage of using the SinuPulse Elite® Sinus Irrigation System is that the rate of pulsation is 20 pulses per second, just right for the cilia of the nose to move to. When the cilia move normally, the body defends itself. Bacteria are trapped, and are quickly moved out of the nose into the stomach where they are disposed of. But with many infections, including colds, the cilia slow down. Hence the importance of the irrigator. Another advantage of the SinuPulse Elite® Sinus Irrigation System is that it is easy to do, the pressure is low and even 5 year olds do this without difficulty. Much better than the use of various bulb syringes, neti pots, and nasal wash bottles that people find unpleasant. Irrigation is not just for colds.

Many published medical reports cite the importance of using this type of irrigation before and after sinus surgery. Especially since irrigation may make the sinus surgery unnecessary. If interested, there are some 30 medical journal articles that have been written recommending the Bacteria and Sinus Attachment for many problems of the nose, sinus and chest.
